Salisbury Optician opens practice doors for a special children’s fun day

Memory Opticians in Salisbury is opening the practice doors for a very special children’s fun day this Friday, aimed at helping children to feel comfortable in an optician’s practice environment.

The fun starts at 9.30am and children will be able to participate in a number of exciting activities including colouring competitions and face painting with unique prizes to be won.

Parents will have the opportunity to ensure their child’s vision is healthy as eye examination and spectacle check appointments will be available throughout the day.

Practice owner Katie Memory feels that the fun day will not only make the practice environment inviting for children, but also help parents to recognise the importance or regular eye examinations.

She said: “The fun day is a great opportunity for parents to find out more about taking care of their children’s eye health and the importance of regular eye examinations.

“A number of common and easily corrected eye conditions affect children, causing many to disrupt lessons and struggle with simple reading and writing exercises.

“It is recommended that children attend eye examinations at least once a year as their eyes are developing and before they attend school.

“We want to ensure that the children have lots of fun, but the most important thing is that their vision is healthy and protected.”

Every child that has their eyes examined by the team will receive a free gift and have the chance to try the latest children’s spectacles supplied by award winning eyewear specialists ZooBug.

There will be a free prize draw for the chance to win a pair of ZooBug Olympic sunglasses and refreshments will be available on site.

Katie added: “It’s not long until the summer holidays are over and the new school term starts, so this is a fantastic time to ensure that children’s eyewear is fitted properly and damage free.

“We’re all really excited and can’t wait to welcome children and their parents to our Salisbury practice.”

Memory Opticians is the only independent optician in the UK with identical twin optometrists.

John and Martin Memory are the practice owners and optometrists at Memory Opticians. They qualified at Aston University in Birmingham and now offer their vast expertise to residents of Wiltshire.

Together, they opened their first practice in Amesbury in 1982, and their second practice in Salisbury in 1995. They now own three successful high street practices in Wiltshire.
